Headed to Monterey for the weekend? Check out these beautiful barrel jellies—it’s the first time they’ve been exhibited in North America! The jellies came to us as polyps from the Instituto Ciencias del Mar in Spain and Senior Aquarist Wyatt Patry successfully grew them to a size that could be displayed in The Jellies Experience.

The jellies are currently about 4” (10.1 cm) to 6” (15.2 cm) in diameter.  In the wild, this species can grow to about 2 feet (60 cm) in diameter.

A special thanks to Vero Fuentes who helped us learn to raise them!
