The African blackfooted penguin chick that hatched on exhibit in late August has been taken behind the scenes with its parents. The chick was starting to stick its head out of the nest and for safety reasons, we removed the young one until it gets a bit bigger. We’ll also be teaching it how to hand-feed from staff. Don’t worry—the chick is doing very well, and we anticipate it will be back on exhibit eventually. We’ll try to keep you up to date with photos from behind the scenes!

View our live web cam of the exhibit.
